Video #2 - Media Forum on FAB and Bangsamoro Identity, by Ryan Rosauro


ILIGAN CITY, December 1, 2014 - Ryan Rosauro continued the discussions in the media forum to date, related to the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro (FAB) emphasizing the Bangsamoro identity. The FAB was signed on October 15, 2012 between the GPH and MILF peace negotiating panels in Malacanang, Manila. Bangsamoro identity was defined in 3 categories. It refers to the people, government and geographic territory. Bangsamoro identity did not refer to religion, a Muslims or Christians but referring to ancestry, Lumads or Indigenous peoples in Mindanao majority of them converted into Muslims before the coming of the spanish colony.

Bangsamoro is a national identity, nationality and citizenship is two separate issues. Citizenship is a legal concept, while nationality is commonality in ancestry as a people in a certain territory or homeland. Bangsamoro identity is the basis of the establishment of Bangsamoro political entity.

Bangsamoro identity is a key to political autonomy and normalization is the end to the state of rebellion.  Transitional arrangement and modalities is the manner to establish the Bangsamoro politcal entity. The creation of the 15-member Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC) by virtue of the EO 120, is to craft the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) to replace RA 9054, creating the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM). The draft BBL also mentioned about the creation of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) as provisional government of the Bangsamoro until 2016, the first Bangsamoro election will be conducted and commence the Bangsamoro Ministerial form of government headed by a chief Minister. with reports by Jun Enriquez and video by Ric Clet, DWIZ correspondent.
