Datu Kinoc Guested Media Forum in Iligan City


ILIGAN CITY, December 1, 2014 – Northwestern Mindanao media practitioners successfully articulated the proposed Bangsanoro Basic Law (BBL) and Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), during the Media and multi-stakeholders’ educational forum held in Iligan Medical Center College (IMCC) on December 1. 2014. This activity coincides with this year’s Mindanao Week of Peace Celebration (MWoP), which started November 27 and ended December 3 bringing the theme, “We Pray for Long-Lasting Peace in Mindanao: Give, Share, Live and Proclaim Peace”. There were 20 media participants out of 66 participants others are coming from the non-governmental organizations (NGOs), students, religious and other sectors. The forum was grace by the interfaith of Christians, Moro and Lumad.

The said forum was hosted by the Civil Society Organization Forum for Peace (CSO-FP), a member of the Lanao Peace Partnership (LPP) is a collaboration of other non-governmental and one academic/government organization in Lanao areas comprises Iligan-based partner Organizations, namely,  Pailig Development Foundation, Inc. (PDFI); Ecosystems Work for Essential Benefits, Inc. (EcoWEB); Kapamagogopa, Inc. (KI), and the Institute for Peace and Development in Mindanao of the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT-IPDM). The LPP is the main partner of the German Development Cooperation-Civil Peace Service (GIZ-CPS) in the Lanao region.

Datu Kinoc in his message discussed the signed agreements by the GPH and MILF Peace negotiating panels, involving the Transitional modalities, wealth sharing, power sharing and normalization. He also mention about the normalization process.

"Kalinga sa Bayan," Puppets Talking with Children




POONA PIAGAPO, Lanao del Norte, December 21, 2014 - Mayor Farhana R. Palawan  of Poona Piagapo expressed the full support of the LGU-Poona Piagapo in the successful conduct of the “Kalinga Sa Bayan” affair. Department of Education (DepEd) represented by District Supervisor Ammilee A. Sanggacala expressed gratitude to the 15th IB, of initiating the activity to educate and capacitate the youth for personal development to become good citizen. “Kalinga sa Bayan," Psycho-social in Concert


POONA PIAGAPO, Lanao del Norte (December 21, 2014) – A two-day  Kalinga Sa Bayan undertaking at Poona Piagapo, Lanao del Norte, was initiated  by the 15th Infantry “Molave Warrior” Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division, under the 2nd Mechanized brigade, Philippine Army in partnership with Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation, Lanao Development Team,  Christar of the Philippines, Inc. and the Local Government Unit of Poona Piagapo (LGU-Poona Piagapo), Lanao del Norte,  in cooperation with the  Department of Education (DepEd), and the Philippine Drugs Enforcement Administration (PDEA).

Dubbed as “A Gathering of Heroes”, the 2-day Kalinga Sa Bayan event, held at the Municipal Gymnasium at Barangay Pened, Poona Piagapo, Lanao del Norte aims to train the school children to become responsive, responsible, useful, and productive citizens to be able to contribute in the development of the communities as change agents, and was participated in by 300 school children from various schools in the 26 barangays of the municipality with ages ranging from 5 years old to 18 years old, both males and females. Iligan City Media Share a Night with 2nd Mech Bde



ILIGAN CITY - On December 13 at about 7:00 in the Evening, the officers and men of the 2ndMechanized Infantry Brigade, headed by Col. Gilbert I. Gapay, tendered a party or “media night” for all the members of the local press based mostly in Iligan City.  After dinner and drinks that was highlighted by a singing band from nearby Cagayan de Oro City, and election of officers of the “Magbalantay Defense Press Corps” was conducted.  This activity was agreed upon earlier during the initial planning between the army and the media.  Those elected into office were the following:

Cong Varf Hosted Congressional Hearing on BBL in Iligan City, November 28, 2014


ILIGAN CITY, November 28, 2014 - Cong Vicente F. Belmonte, Jr., Lone district representative, Ilgan City, hosted the congressional hearing on the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) at the Elena Tower Inn, this city. Belmonte clarified the issue on power and energy presented by Mr. Jun Tenorio, President, Civil Society Organization Forum for peace, Inc. (CSO-FP), especially on the deferment of the NPC privatization that he was one of the congressmen filed a resolution in the house of representatives to defer the NPC privatization. Datu Kinoc reacts in Congressional Hearing on BBL in Iligan City Held November 28, 2014



ILIGAN CITY, November 28, 2014 - Datu Antonio Kinoc, a B'laan tribe, member of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Peace negotiating panel and member of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC), clarified issues that the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) cannot be changed even comma and period. He never saying that the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) cannot be amended nor changed and it is the responsibility of congress. He also clarified about the Local Government units (LGUs) will remain the same under the BBL and cannot be changed. On the other hand, Mr. Bobby Alonto, from Marawi city, member of the Peace negotiating panel and Commissioner, Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC), clarified the issues on the right-to-self determination. Alonto said that their family had a close relationship with the Lobregats in Zamboanga City with their Elders. Timuay Ulama, a Tiduray, BTC Commissioner, emphasized the right of the Indigenous peoples (IPs) under the BBL. EYEING REMEDIES ON WRIT OF CONTINUING MANDAMUS


ILIGAN CITY, December 27, 2014 - Atty. Edgardo B. Prospero, one of the counsels for the petitioners, further explained other remedies of the Court of Appeals (CA) decision on writ of continuing mandamus. Prospero said the court decision will served as basis on filing a case against the coal fired power plant operation in Iligan City and other places in Mindanao. CA DECISION ON WRIT OF CONTINUING MANDAMUS EXPLAINED


ILIGAN CITY, December 27, 2014 - Environmentalist and lead counsel for the petitioners, Atty. Kerth Jossef M. Ablanque, gave the overview of the environmental case, writ of continuing mandamus, in its decision by the Court of Appeals dated December 17, 2014, won favorably for the petitioners, a heroic action against the respondents, the Iligan City government. Ablanque said that the case was filed sometime in April, 2012 and on September 12, 2012, the Court of Appeals issued the temporary environmental protection order (TEPO) equivalent to the temporary restraining order (TRO). Ablanque added that in the TEPO the local government of Iligan city was ordered by the court to take concrete measures to protect the environment. CONCERT RALLY AGAINST COAL FIRED POWER PLANT


Iligan City, December 13, 2014 - Concert rally against coal-fired power plant was held at Iligan City freedom park, by the Kapagintaw band of Iligan Medical Center College.
