CA DECISION ON WRIT OF CONTINUING MANDAMUS EXPLAINED


ILIGAN CITY, December 27, 2014 - Environmentalist and lead counsel for the petitioners, Atty. Kerth Jossef M. Ablanque, gave the overview of the environmental case, writ of continuing mandamus, in its decision by the Court of Appeals dated December 17, 2014, won favorably for the petitioners, a heroic action against the respondents, the Iligan City government. Ablanque said that the case was filed sometime in April, 2012 and on September 12, 2012, the Court of Appeals issued the temporary environmental protection order (TEPO) equivalent to the temporary restraining order (TRO). Ablanque added that in the TEPO the local government of Iligan city was ordered by the court to take concrete measures to protect the environment.
