Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte, Feb. 22, 2015 - Musa
Sanguila, Executive Director, Pakigdait, Inc., made mention about an
analogy of a parrot owned by an Imam (Muslim religious leader) that a
parrot was always talking on Muslim greeting everyday "Assalam Alaikom"
meaning peace be with you, until one day the parrot died, the Imam cried
because the parrot always talk "Assalam Alaikom" but didn't know what
it means. He said that people should not like a parrot.
Prejudices and biases are the root causes of conflict. It needs to
understand the causes of conflict in order to arrive a common definition
and understanding of peace. He said " the all-out-war in 2000 was
declared in this stage and we don't want this to happen again". He said
in the past, Elders of Muslims and Christians had constant dialogues to
do away potential conflict and sustain peace.
